Fishes

Specific hydrological and hydrobiological characteristics of Zasavica conditioned the presence of Cyprind fish species in aquatic ecosystems. There are 16 autochtonous and 4 introduced species: mudminnow, rudd, zope, and carp are vulnerable (VU), While Danubian bream, bitterling, crucian carp and weatherfish are rare species. At the same time mudminnow, bitterling and weatherfish are protected by law in Serbia as natural rarities, that provides protection not only of species but of their habitats as well.

Reintroduction of catfish (Silurus glanis) has been done as a part of the project of Reintroduction of Autochtonous species of fish.
