Herpetofauna & Reptiles
From the aspect of herpethofauna the area has optimal conditions for survival both terrestrial and aquatic species. There has been recorded 12 taxons, amphibian and reptiles. From the total number of 24 recorded taxons all amphibians and 4 reptiles are protected as natural rarities and some of them are on the preliminary list for the Red Data Book of Vertebrates of Serbia. From the aspect of endangered species in Europe there are 6 amphibians and 7 reptiles included into Berne Convention.
Zasavica is a habitat of two endemic species of the Balkan peninsula – Triturus dobrogicus and Lacerta agilis bosnica.
