Events of Special Interest without precedence in Serbia

On May 29, 2007, in the depression of the Valjevac Meadow two herons have been spotted of the PINK SPOON-BREASTED HERON“ variety.

Later it was concluded that these were examples of the classical variety of the Spoon Breasted Heron (Platelea leurocodia) that had been feeding on shrimps in the Mediteranean Salt Works, explaining why their feathers have assumed a pinkish colour, which will last until the first forthcoming moult when the bird feathers will become white as before.
